Library - Learning Resource Centre
Our Lady’s Library provides a service to the whole school community, and is accessible throughout the school day. Our resources include books, newspapers, periodicals, videos, CDs and tapes. The Internet can be accessed via the computers which are also linked to the school network. Pupils in Years 7 and 8 have regular library lessons, other pupils can use the facilities at break and lunch-time as well as before and after school.
Library lessons typically focus on the works of particular authors, and pupils produce illustrations and displays based on the books they have read, with prizes often awarded for the best pieces of work.
As well as novels, pupils also study other genres, for example, biographies and plays such as those of William Shakespeare. The school is also very lucky to welcome the author Adele Geras every year. She speaks to Year 8 pupils about the writing process and, in particular, her novels and stories about the theatre.
